Two people can hold identical licences and produce work of an entirely different order. Intelligence, experience and effort all matter. None of them accounts for the size of the gap.
It helps to think in materials rather than machinery. Everyone is issued the same steel, the same glass, the same span of ground. What stands on the site afterwards is decided by the architecture, and the architecture does not arrive with the delivery. It is drawn by someone who understands the load, the ground and what the building is actually for.
Fusion is what happens when general capability stops being general. It takes the shape of your domain, so you are no longer compressing a working life into a paragraph before every request. It reaches the real material - the evidence, the decisions, the half-finished thinking - instead of discussing all of it from outside. The exchange widens, so judgement enters the work throughout rather than only at the two ends. What is learned is kept, so a correction made on Friday is still true on Monday. And the checking is structural rather than remembered, because reach without verification only distributes error more efficiently.
None of that is issued with the licence. The exponent is assembled, deliberately, by the person who intends to use it.
At first the machine is somewhere you go. You arrive, explain yourself, take what you came for and leave, and tomorrow you explain yourself again from the beginning. Nothing is wrong with that. For small work it is exactly right. It simply never accumulates.
What changes first is the environment. Every pass leaves something behind in it: context that no longer has to be retyped, a method that held, a standard worth keeping, a correction that should constrain the next decision. The environment thickens. It stops being a blank room you brief from nothing and becomes a place that already knows the load-bearing facts of your work.
What changes next is you. Working inside a thicker environment alters what you attempt, what you notice, and how quickly you can tell a sound answer from a merely plausible one. The environment begins asking sharper questions back. This is the part most people miss. The machine is not only producing your work. It is changing the conditions under which you think about it.
Past a threshold the two stop being separable. The work exposes what is missing and you build the missing part while the work is still moving, so output is no longer the only thing being produced. The second product is a sharper operating model, and that one stays yours.
The honest measure was never frequency of use. It is what would go missing if it were taken away tomorrow: an afternoon, or an operating model.
Tighter fusion is not automatically better fusion. Whatever you bring is carried further, and nothing in the arrangement holds an opinion about which of it deserved to travel. Thin reasoning arrives beautifully formatted. A held error hardens into a standing assumption. Given long enough it becomes genuinely difficult to say which conclusions were yours, which were the machine's, and which were inherited from context nobody has reread in months.
A stronger fusion carries good judgement further. It carries the other kind just as far, and considerably faster.
